Changes in taste may occur due to treatment, medications or oral thrush.
Maintaining good regular mouth hygiene practices is very important as mouth ulcers may also occur. Use mouth washes regularly.
Experiment – try new foods or combination of foods. Foods once disliked may now be more appealing.
If food tastes too salty or acid – add sugar or honey.
If food tastes too sweet – add salt, lemon juice, vinegar or plain yoghurt.
If food tastes too bland – enhance flavour and smell. Try bacon, cheese, garlic, pickles, chutney, sauces, herbs and spices.
Vary textures. Try smooth, rough, crunchy; fresh, frozen or canned foods.
